As a founding member of the campaign to Change Direction
, the American Psychiatric Association Foundation is one of the collaborators of concerned citizens, nonprofit leaders, and leaders from the private sector who have come together to create a new story in America about mental health, mental illness, and wellness.
This collective effort, led by Give an Hour - an organization the Foundation has previously partnered with to improve military mental health - is hoping to change the way America addresses mental health issues. With one in every four or five people across the country having a diagnosable mental health condition, the campaign to Change Direction encourages citizens to "know the five signs".
1. Personality Change 4. Poor Self-Care
2. Agitation 5. Hopelessness
